Scheme ‘Embezzled ₴12 Million’ Raised for Ukrainian Veterans

The State Security Service (SBU) of Ukraine together with the prosecutor’s office unmasked offenders who embezzled money allocated for psychological rehabilitation of Ukrainian veterans, the SBU press center informs.

SBU officers found out that three private companies won a tender of the State Agency on War Veterans by providing false information. In particular, their bids offered to provide comprehensive rehabilitation to soldiers, but in fact, soldiers were just placed in healthcare facilities without receiving any psychological rehabilitation. Actually, these companies even lacked staff to provide such rehabilitation. In some cases, they offered money to soldiers instead of providing necessary services and asked them to keep silent.

According to preliminary estimates, the offenders embezzled over ₴12 million ($500,000) during 2015-2016.
