Education Minister: External Independent Testing is Now Fraud-Proof
On Thursday, June 30, Education Minister Liliya Hrynevych claimed all possible measures had been taken to protect the system of External Independent Testing (EIT) from forgery, the Ministry website reports.
"Following last year’s statement from the prosecutor’s office on interference with the EIT system, we have completely revised and strengthened the protection mechanism. I can assure you that the results of EIT 2016 are protected and impossible to forge," she said.
The Ministry hopes for an impartial outcome of an investigation against the staff of the Ukrainian Center of Education Quality Assessment [ed.: who are suspected of having interfered with the EIT system last year]. It is important for law enforcement activities not to discredit the EIT system, she highlights.
She does not believe accusation against Ihor Likarchuk is true. Likarchuk was the Head of this Center during 2006-2011 and 2014-2015. He was recently accused of having committed multiple criminal offences with regard to forgery of the EIT system and embezzlement of money from the government and USAID. On June 30, Pecherskyi Court in Kyiv placed him under house arrest.
