Voluntary Gun Surrender Launched by the National Police

In order to stop illegal turnover of firearms, ammunition, explosives and other weapons the National Police of Ukraine launches a month of voluntary gun surrender from July 1 to 31, 2016.

Individuals who will voluntarily contact the police to turn over the items which are mentioned above and which are in the illegal possession of these individuals will not be prosecuted according to provisions of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine [ed: illegal possession and use of weapons, ammunition and explosives].

Moreover, the notice by the National Police states that those who voluntarily surrendered their illegal guns and other weapons can then apply to the National Police to take these items back in their possession and register them according to the law.
