Azerbaijan to Buy 10 An-178 Planes from Ukraine

Ukrainian state-owned aircraft manufacturer Antonov has signed a contract for sale of 10 An-178 aircraft with an Azerbaijani company after a year of negotiations, Ukrainian 5 Kanal reports.

The amount of the contract, as well as the amount of the advance payment that has already been made are being kept secret. It is known that the planes will be supplied in two installments: with two units being initially delivered followed by the remaining eight, which might be assembled in Azerbaijan.

The An-178 aircraft completed its first flight last year. It has currently made 77 landings, and is still being tested. This aircraft can carry up to 18 tonnes of various cargo and reach a speed of up to 850 km/h and an altitude of 12 km.

State-owned enterprise Antonov is expanding its network of international partners and has signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with an Indian company and previously signed a cooperation agreement with a Saudi Arabian company.
