Poroshenko Approves National Defense Strategy

President Poroshenko has approved the Strategic Defense Bulletin of Ukraine which the National Security and Defense Council recently adopted, the presidential website informs.

The Strategic Defense Bulletin is a roadmap determining the principal directions of the military policy of Ukraine and development of defense forces up to 2020 in line with the NATO framework and principles.

According to the roadmap, the defense reform goals will be pursued by building the capacity of the defense forces, hands-on involvement in the EU Common Security and Defense Policy and effective cooperation with NATO aimed at meeting the alliance’s membership criteria.
