MP Hryniv: Poroshenko to Run for a Second Term

Ihor Hryniv, Leader of Petro Poroshenko Bloc parliamentary faction, believes President Poroshenko will run for a second presidential term, he said in an interview to Ukrayinska Pravda.

"No doubt, he will run for it. It is a dramatic responsibility. Poroshenko is perfectly aware that to get elected for a second time, he needs to deliver extraordinarily. People are losing their trust in the authorities, and voicing more and more complaints," Hryniv stressed.

He underlined that Poroshenko inherited many tough challenges, drastically different from those that previous presidents faced: "Unless you implement tangible reforms, society will not support you."

The MP explained why he remains on the President’s side. "You hint that I delicately praise him. No, I openly praise him. I could hardly imagine what would happen to Ukraine if we had a different President."

When discussing who are Poroshenko’s main rivals, Hyyniv said it is too early to specify, as many people are being discussed. However, some politicians "breathe down the President’s neck, like Sadovyi, Tymoshenko. These are the top league candidates who have been constantly visible during the latest campaigning."
