Dutch PM Officially Reports on EU-Ukraine Association Agreement
During the first day of the meeting of the European Council in Brussels, the heads of states and governments of EU member states instructed the Council of the EU to respond to the Netherlands’ concerns over the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, Ukrinform [ed.: the text of this hyperlink is in the Ukrainian language] reports.
"The Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte presented the result of the national referendum on the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement along with concerns expressed during the debates preceding the referendum. The European Council instructed the Council of the EU to find the most prompt solution to this matter," the heads of EU states and governments highlighted.
On April 6, an advisory referendum in the Netherlands voted against ratification of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement by the Netherlands. Ukraine and the majority of political actors in the EU, while respecting the referendum result, stress that a political and legal solution should be provided without introducing any amendments to the text of the agreement or additional talks on this matter.
