Petro Poroshenko Bloc MP Serhiy Leshchenko does not rule out the possibility that the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov may use law enforcement agencies to come to power, he said on 112 Ukrayina TV channel on Saturday.

"Avakov is a person with very strong political ambitions. I don’t rule out that with time he will use his resources for creating a political force and coming to power, either through an election, or through quasi-legal ways," he said. "When you have someone with not only official, but also unofficial influence on law enforcement units that are armed, equipped, and motivated, and this person can potentially be a political leader, there is always this risk."

According to Leshchenko, Avakov is currently as influential as Prime Minister Groysman. "I call him Super-First Deputy Prime Minister," the MP said.
