Ministry of Education Introduces New University Admission Rules
There are eight basic changes to university admission process for the upcoming intake. This year admission will be based on a new unified list of majors, which will be broader than before so that students can be more flexible with choosing their specialization later on during their time at university. When submitting the results of External Independent Evaluation tests, two of the required subjects are defined by the university, and one is chosen by the student himself.
Unlike the previous years, when students were able to submit 15 sets of documents to five universities, this year they will be able to submit 15 sets of documents for five majors. This would allow students who have already chosen their specialty to have a bigger chance to be admitted by broadening their choice of universities. All documents will be submitted in electronic form.
A simplified system of admission is in place for students from Crimea and occupied parts of Donbas. For instance, taking into account the problem with the access to necessary documents, they do not have to submit their high school transcripts. Also, students from Donbas can be admitted to universities which were evacuated from the ATO zone via entrance examinations, not the results of their External Independent Evaluation tests. Special categories of students such as orphans have an option to choose whether to submit the results of external tests or to pass an entrance examination. Also, such categories as, for instance, disabled veterans, can be admitted based on the admission interviews.
