The ‘Normandy four’ leaders – Petro Poroshenko, Angela Merkel, Francois Hollande, and Vladimir Putin – may meet in early July before the NATO summit scheduled for July 8-9 in Warsaw, as Stuttgarter Zeitung reports with reference to German government sources. The meeting’s principal objective is to ease tensions.
In recent months, German Chancellor Angela Merkel has repeatedly noted the lack of progress in the implementation of the Minsk agreements. It is believed to be the reason for the parties to meet. Stuttgarter Zeitung also points out the significant deterioration in the war zone in parts of eastern Ukraine.
