Ukrainian Serviceman Killed near Vodiane village in Donbas
Militants opened mass artillery shelling against Ukrainian forces near Vodiane village close to the city of Mariupol in Donbas, as Zorian Shkiriak, adviser to the Interior Minister, reported on his Facebook page [ed.: the text of this Facebook post is in the Ukrainian language].
He points out that intense fighting is ongoing around Vodiane, where militants fired heavy-gun armaments, killing one Ukrainian soldier.
"The militants use 120mm mortars, as well as 122mm and 152mm artillery cannons prohibited by international agreements. Unfortunately, one Ukrainian soldier died. As the fighting goes on, Ukrainian forces repel assaults and give fitting rebuff to the aggressor," Mr. Shkiriak summarized.
