Man Carrying a Grenade Detained in Kharkiv Metro
An ATO veteran carrying a grenade was detained in Kharkiv metro at about 10 am on Saturday, June 18, the press service of the Main Office of National Police in Kharkiv oblast reports.
A senior lieutenant of the special police battalion was on his way home when he noticed a man moving an object that looked like munition from one pocket to the other. He followed the man to a place where he could be detained without harm for other passengers, and seized a grenade from him with the help of metro guard police.
It was established that the young man lives in Bohodukhiv in Kharkiv oblast and took part in the ATO. Criminal proceedings regarding "unlawful handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives" (Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) have been initiated. The punishment for the offense can be up to seven years in prison.
