The monument to Cheka officers near Lybidska metro station was finally completely destroyed in Kyiv, according to city councillor Ruslan Andriyko, UNIAN reports. The dismantling with an excavator started on May 25.
The dismantling of the monument was initiated earlier in April, when activists tried to take it down themselves led by Mykola Kokhanivskyi, head of the Committee for Liberation of Political Prisoners.
On May 21, mayor Vitali Klitschko said that decommunization in Kyiv was almost finished, and all monuments that fall under the decommunization law were to be dismantled by May 23.
