Imports of Motor Vehicles to Ukraine Increase by Almost 50%
According to Ukravtoprom, the Association of Motor Vehicle Producers of Ukraine, in the first quarter of 2016 Ukraine imported 22,460 motor vehicles totaling $339.5 million, which is a 48% increase compared to the same period in 2015.
Passenger cars constituted 73% of imported motor vehicles. A total of 16,352 passenger cars were imported to Ukraine between January and March, which is a one-third increase compared to the same period in 2015. Approximately 73% of the cars that were imported to Ukraine were new.
On the other hand, commercial and special purpose motor vehicles that were imported to Ukraine were mostly used (93% in the first quarter of this year versus 83% in the same period the previous year).
Germany was the biggest source of imported cars in Ukraine in the first quarter of 2016, with a 26% market share.
