Lviv Polytechnic University Starts Teaching the Internet of Things

Lviv Polytechnic National University launches a unique Bachelor of the Internet of Things Programme next academic year. The similar programme is available only in the U.S.

The programme concept is that every household item can process information coming from the environment, share it and perform certain actions depending on how it is set. The University will teach how to do it practically. Zenovii Veres, Solution Architect of SoftServe [ed.: one of the leading Ukrainian IT outsourcing firms] and the programme mastermind explained that the programme was inspired by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The courses will be taught by the practicing Ukrainian IT professionals: managers, architects, senior developers, including those who have already launched successful startups: a team from SoftServe that launched a smart coffee maker, and a team of Cypress — an integrated touchscreen infotainment system for Tesla’s Model S. The students will be able to do internships at the local IT companies.

"Around 4 000 information technology students graduate in Lviv each year. If they obtain quality education, finding a job will be a piece of cake," Stepan Veselovskyi, CEO of Lviv IT Cluster, points out.

The students will be admitted to this program under general rules. Each year 50 to 100 students will be accepted to the programme. They will have to pay the tuition fee, but Lviv IT Cluster will award grants to three best students to cover their tuition.
