Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko announced changes to the structure of the Prosecutor General’s Office on May 21, 2016.

"I have had a meeting with the lawyers of the Heavenly Hundred [ed.: protesters killed during the anti-government Maidan protests in 2014], and I dismissed the Department [of the General Prosecutor’s Office] that interrogated investigators and detectives who are in charge of Maidan cases," Lutsenko said.

He also added that the Special Investigations Department headed by Serhiy Horbatiuk would not be subordinate to the Deputy Prosecutor General Yuriy Stoliarchuk "because of the mutual confrontation" [of the two prosecutors], and Horbatiuk would now report directly to the Prosecutor General, as well as receive additional powers to direct the investigation.

The Prosecutor General added, "I transfer the cases related to the economic crimes of the organized crime group of the former President Yanukovych to the Deputy Military Prosecutor, Lieutenant General Volodymyr Zhebrytskyi."
