Ukraine's President Leonid Kuchma appointed new heads of the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia region state administrations.
In accordance with presidential decrees, Volodymyr Yatsuba was appointed Dnipropetrovsk region governor, and Volodymyr Berezovsky was named Zaporizhia region governor.

Volodymyr Yatsuba, born in 1947, graduated from Dnipropetrovsk Metallurgical Institute, has been minister of the Cabinet of Ministers since 2001.
Volodymyr Berezovsky, born in 1950, a graduate of the Zaporizhia Machine Building Institute, has been chairman of the Zaporizhia Regional Council since 1998.
By singing other decrees, the president dismissed Dnipropetrovsk region governor Mykola Shvets who has held that office since 1999 and Zaporizhia region governor Yevhen Kartashov who took his office in 2001.
As was earlier reported, on analyzing the immediate situation in the agroindustrial sector, the Cabinet of Ministers suggested that the president dismiss Mykola Shvets.
At the government's request, the head of state also fired Chernivtsi region governor Teofil Bauer and Poltava region governor Yevhen Tomin and appointed Mykhailo Romaniv and Oleksandr Udovichenko to these posts respectively.
Yevhen Kartashov was elected mayor of Zaporizhia only recently, after which he announced its intention to quit office of region governor.
